The place that stole my heart and changed my whole life! I went to Mexico last summer 2018 and I fell in love with the country and every single person. I stayed at GR Solaris in the hotel zone in Cancun. At first I was a little upset about going to Mexico because I had my heart set on something else and Mexico was not my first choice. As soon as I got off the plane and to the resort area that feeling went away. From the moment I stepped foot on the resort I knew I was going to love it there. The resort itself is beyond beautiful and it is freaking huge! After getting settled, I put my bathing suit on and headed down to the pool area where it seemed everyone was at. The first 2 days I just hung out by the pool and walked down to the beach to relax by the ocean. By day 4 I was interacting with the hotel entertainment crew and other people who were vacationing there. Surprisingly I made friends with all the entertainment staff and 2 other couples who were enjoying the sun in Mexico.
The entertainment staff gave the place life! Every single one of them went above and beyond to make sure that we were all having a good time! If you are reading this … I love you Orfa and gracias por todo. They had me up dancing doing Zumba class in the morning and I don’t even dance(: Everyday there was always something for us to do, one day I competed in the GR Solaris Olympics and let me tell you all, I was so much out of my comfort zone, but in the end I am so glad I did it, it was really a lot of fun! Every night the whole crew would put on an amazing show in the ball room, literally every night. They all have so much passion for their job and it made my time there amazing.
Okay so this time in Mexico I did not leave the resort, I spent all 7 days there and that is okay ( for this time). I didn’t really need to leave the resort when I had everything I needed there. I do regret not going to see the ruins though, next time! Anyways the food at the resort was amazing they had different restaurants to choose from so I didn’t have to eat the same food everyday, even though I wouldn’t have minded. Just don’t drink to much tequila and don’t start drinking at 10:30am I made that mistake and paid for it deeply haha.
Being there I realized what I wanted to do with my life… I wanted to become a translator. Listening to everyone speak in Spanish gave me the push I needed to change career paths. I went to Mexico as a nursing student and as soon as I came back I changed my major to Spanish and transferred schools. It was one of the best decisions I could have ever made, second to going to Mexico in the first place. If I would have never went to Mexico. I am sure I would still be in nursing school pursing a career I didn’t/don’t love.
Mexico will always have my whole heart & I am counting down the days until I return… July 2019 (:
